Once you have turned on your Siri assistant you can already use. However, there are useful configurations you can use to make it much better.

Everything you do with Siri you do from your Settings application – General – Siri menu in iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S and other models. For example, when you need to select your local language, you can do this from “Language” menu where there is English and some other options to select from.

Siri can speak in female and male voices so you can choose what you like more via Voice Gender menu.
If you wish Siri to get activated everytime you lift the handset to your ear, choose Raise to Speak option. You can ask your assistant to speak to you in hands-free mode or all the time through Voice Feedback menu. You can enable Siri by clicking for a long time on the Home button if you select this option.
Your personal assistant can do a lot of other things: search, make phone calls, send SMS messages, launch tasks, open applications etc. You can play with Settings and adjust Siri to be comfortable to you.
